»» Hunters are no longer required to validate or attach paper carcass tags to a deer or turkey harvest, and are no longer required to keep the tag with the
meat following registration. Instead, hunters will carry difficult copy or electronic deer tags and turkey harvest authorizations, and will utilize the unique tag
number or harvest potency number to begin the registration procedure.
»» Upon successfully registering, the hunter volition receive a 10-character confirmation number that should be retained for the hunter's records and will be
required if the game is taken to a taxidermist or meat processor. The confirmation number indicates to a conservation warden, wildlife biologist or meat
processor that the brute has been properly registered.
»» All deer and turkey must exist registered by 5 p.m. the solar day after recovery.
»» Although all registration is electronic, the department may require tissue sampling. CWD sampling continues in Wisconsin and hunters may exist asked to
submit tissue samples from deer. The department may require in-person registration.
